Meridian Behavioral Health hosts affordable, high-quality, and professional continuing education workshops in the behavioral health and addiction studies field through our New Beginnings at Waverly location. Our goal is to provide four workshops per year across multiple disciplines.
Our Next Workshop: Ethics and Boundaries
February 16, 2024 @ 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
The program will focus on a variety of ethical & boundary issues that counselors face and that supervisors face in today’s health care and community environment. Issues will include updates on duties to report misconduct, duties to break confidentiality to prevent violence, boundaries challenges on the internet, delivery of services at a distance, relationships with former clients, and many other issues. He will utilize case examples and video clips, and there will be an opportunity to ask to questions & discuss gray areas. Handouts will be available to participants electronically.
As a Result of the Training Participants will:
- Participants will be able to articulate current Minnesota standards for duty to warn and protect.
- Participants will be able to articulate duties to report professional misconduct.
- Participants will be able to describe five key ethical principles key to decision-making.
- Participants will be able to discuss key challenges in social media interaction with clients.
- Participants will be able to articulate challenges in use of internet social support sites.

Carmichael Finn, known as “Finn,” is the current Executive Director at Recovering Hope Treatment Center in Mora, Minnesota. With over two decades of experience, Finn holds licenses as an alcohol and drug counselor in the State of Minnesota and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition to their leadership role, Finn serves as Adjunct Faculty at Metropolitan State University and Minneapolis College, where they teach in Alcohol and Drug Counseling programs. They are also the owner of Carmichael Finn LLC, specializing in team building, training, and quality consultation for behavioral health organizations. Finn’s professional interests encompass advanced ethics, supervision, organizational and systems change, research, relational theories, and addiction and family dynamics.
